Education FAQs

What’s the difference between classes and clinics?

Format and time. Our classes are offered as part of six-week series (one class per week), and sessions include a lecture and workshop portion (2 hours total). Our clinics are one-off events that typically last a half day, full day, or weekend.

Do you have to be a member of The Center of Equine Awareness to participate?

No. Our classes, clinics, and retreats are open to the general public, and non-members are welcome to participate at full price. (Learn about member discounts.) All non-member riding, liberty, and groundwork lessons will be offered through Karen Ososki Riding Instructor LLC.

Where are classes and clinics held?

All classes and clinics are held at The Center for Equine Awareness in Bozeman, Montana. Registrants will be sent directions and additional details about the facility, parking, etc.

Are meals included with retreats?

Our private chef will prepare three gourmet meals daily (breakfast, lunch, dinner), and additional refreshments will be available throughout the retreat. Nutritional requests will happily be accommodated. Wine and beer will be provided, as long as they are consumed responsibly.

May I bring my own horse to classes, clinics, and retreats?

Please inquire to see whether guest horses are allowed at a particular event.

Are groundwork exercises and clinics suitable to unstarted colts?

No. Our classes and clinics are not colt starting programs. Though green horses are acceptable in most circumstances, please do not bring unstarted horses or those with less than 90 days of training/riding to any Center event.

Where are retreats held? Is housing included?

Our Soul-to-Soul Retreat is held at The Center for Equine Awareness in Bozeman, Montana. Registrants will be sent directions and additional details about the facility, parking, etc. Attendees may opt to stay in our nearby luxury housing (a beautiful restored barn with full kitchen), or locals may stay at their homes.
